Due to the way that Rapport was designed, in addition to the very small resources required, the system runs very fast and requires no local installation for users desktop PCs. All it needs is a standard web browser installed, even the one you use right now to browse the internet.
All the data and processing is handled by a server that you can have anywhere you wish. Online, on a local network, even at home or in a remote office in another country. It doesn't matter at all, just so long as the local browser can see the server across the network, it just works. Fast.
That server to house and run Rapport can be a low powered machine, it can even be run on a standard desktop type PC yet still cope easily with multiple users simultaneously. You do not need some massive powerful server to use Rapport.
To illustrate, our preferred server is a micro server from HP with SSD hard drives. Total cost for one of these brand new is less than £500.
Of course speed is relative and is dependent on your local network which is normally blazingly fast for the use of Rapport or on the connection that you have with the server. In practice what users see is instantaneous operation, even over the web for virtually all installations.
In order to make it as fast the volume of data transferred is very small, simply HTML and text so it works as fast as the internet does but, actually faster as it is virtually always used on a direct connection to the server, not routed through various channels over the web.
Unless of course you want to use it over the web because, you can if you wish.
And, as the actual volume of data being transferred is so low, the impact on your local network infrastructure is minimal, if it is noticeable at all as most people would not know it was there.
All this leads to the users, it makes the performance blisteringly fast and, when you are in a busy call centre taking, altering and sending out calls, it has to be fast and easy to use.
Plug And Play
If you prefer to just plug in a PC and it all simply work, that is also available to you.
We can supply a pre-configured, ready to go server for you set up with a RAID configuration that mirrors the primary hard drive in various configurations as required.
It is a case of simply connecting power and LAN then powering on. Your Rapport server will then appear on your local network and you can start using it immediately.
There are various options of course but our preferred setup is a low powered server that runs cool and quiet with solid state drives for maximum reliability. These small servers also have no special requirements for installation other than being in a cool room as with a normal desktop PC and, they are small enough to sit on a shelf in your office.
Cloud Based
Using a system based on internet technologies also allows for Rapport to be installed on a cloud based server so that you can operate a completely “virtual” system.
Several repair companies operate in this way and whilst this can be easily done it is not recommended for higher volumes of use however for low volumes, less than 2-300 calls per month, it is perfectly adequate for most.
